Aid for the folks in Moore, OK

I'm always interested in finding charities who are doing good work in difficult places, and with the latest disaster in Moore, Oklahoma, I've come across one that manages to combine my interest in helping combat veterans with my desire to do some good.

Check out Team Rubicon.  If you're considering donating, know that they've got a team already en route and that your money will go to immediate work.

I checked out their charity reputation, and they're small but growing, honest, and reputable.

I've been debating whether or not I wanted to give to the Red Cross for their efforts in OK. It's sort of the go-to place for donations, you know? But I was thinking about "what if it had been here?", and what kind of help I would be wishing for. I would want an organization who could move swiftly to get boots on the ground, and wouldn't have to go through miles of red tape before handing out a bottle of water or whatever.

I have read a little blurb about Team Rubicon fairly recently, but I never would have made the connection between that article and this tragedy. I definitely wouldn't have remembered their name or how to contact them. I'm SO GLAD you posted this! Thank you a bunch for passing this along! Great suggestion! : )

I'm very happy to have reached even one person in getting the message out there. I went in search of aid organizations to which I could donate. The first on the list was Red Cross, but I have issues with the way they allocate funding. The second was Salvation Army, and I have major issues with their policies towards the LGBTQ community. The third and fourth were Christian organizations, and I have no problem with that, per se, but I was looking for something less...dogmatic. The fifth was Team Rubicon, and as soon as I checked out their website (and checked them out on a couple of charity report card websites), I knew they were The Charity for me. Their mission is pretty amazing, and I'm excited that they're already mobilizing aid. Plus, they are SO organized! Trust a bunch of military folks to do a good job of ordering people around! Lol!
