Fitness Fellowship 2024: Week 33 Check-in (a day late)
Once again, my apologies for being a day late on this post. I'm not even back to school yet, and it's already sucking up SO much of my time. Ah, the teaching life. ;-)
If you're so inclined, please do stop by to share how you've been faring on your fitness journey this past week.
Weight: I was up a bit yesterday morning, largely because we were on a "staycation" last week, which culminated in a big takeout Indian feast and some delicious cake as a treat thereafter.
Exercise: I have been keeping to my goal of getting at least one hour of exercise a day, which includes yoga. I've been lifting light weights more frequently. We also took several hikes last week, which meant I racked up both miles and elevation.
Eating plan: See above, re: treats. I'm back to a much stricter regimen now, however.
Sleep: I'm working on getting my body back to my school-year sleep schedule, moving my bedtime back and getting up earlier. *sighs*
Meditation: See above, re: yoga.
Hydration: I've been good about this. We'll see how it works when I'm back in the classroom.
The week ahead: I'm chained to my work desk most days trying to get my planning done and create new materials, but I'm also trying to make sure I get up and walk around, do a session of yoga, take a walk outside for a bit, et cetera. All this sitting is no good for me. Otherwise, I'm mostly working on readjusting my habits, so I'm not so staggered by the return to regular teaching days.
I'm sending you ALL the good vibes for the week we're in, my friends!

stress eating
I was going to say that I've been steadily creeping in the right direction, but after today I don't expect tomorrow's weigh-in to be a good one. I had one of those nights where I kept going back for one more snack until I suddenly realized that I felt so over-full that I feel gross now. (And it wasn't even anything particularly tasty. I think I'm just falling back in that pattern of reaching for food when I'm anxious.)
Re: stress eating
Good luck with starting your new position, btw! I can definitely understand feeling anxious, but I also think you're going to enjoy the challenge!
Re: stress eating
I'm feeling really excited.
I'm slightly worried about how I might handle a disruptive (deliberately oppositional/defiant) student, but I know I can handle the math and I have no trouble with average student "bad" behavior (i.e. kids just being loud or grumpy because they are kids in math class).
I mean, as much as people complain about kids today having no attention span or no work ethic, when I was their age I was so much worse than any student I've had. 🙃

S and I tried fasting for 24hrs from 11 a.m. yesterday to 11 a.m. today. I had to have a handful of nuts last night but he powered through. I think this is something that is going to work for us.
Good luck with your planning for the new year!

YAY for fasting success! I think it's marvelous that you can do that. I confess to having not nearly enough mental fortitude for it, and I admire you both for your willpower. I hope that longer fasts continue to be beneficial for you.
Good luck with your own planning and prep, hon. I am thinking of you as I try to figure out when to get things done! Lol!

I hope you find a routine that helps you with the rest, too. Gods know my routine needs work at this point. ;-)
