Fitness Fellowship 2024: Week 32 Check-in
Aug. 12th, 2024 05:57 pmWhere has the season gone? I can hardly believe we're almost halfway through August!
How has the past week treated you? Please do share your fitness ups and downs with us. You know we're here to listen and never to judge.
Weight: I had to laugh. The whole week when I was getting up daily to teach my half-day course, the number stuck on the scale. Saturday morning, it had plunged back down almost to where it had been before the freak uptick. If that isn't proof that work isn't good for me, I don't know what is! Lol! Anyway, today, I'm down almost two pounds from last Monday's weigh-in. Yay!
Exercise: I'm continuing daily yoga, regular light weights and some cardio workouts, walking outdoors when it's not a sauna out there and indoors on the elliptical or in just walking in front of the TV otherwise. I've pretty much stuck to doing at least one full hour of exercise daily.
Eating plan: I'm still snacking on sunflower seeds most nights, but I'm hoping to kick that habit when the school year starts. I'll also see a reduction in daily calories because the structure of the work day imposes that. When I'm at home, it's so easy to cook a bigger meal than what I'd eat for lunch at work. I'm just better disciplined within the strictures of my teaching schedule. But I've been good about not splurging besides the sunflower seed habit.
Hydration: Yes.
Meditation: Yoga and some breathing exercises outside of that as well.
Sleep: I had a good week of getting to bed at a reasonable hour for work, and then the weekend rolled around and T. wasn't home. I don't sleep well when he's away, so I'm dealing with a sleep deficit right now. I hope it will improve soon.
Here's hoping the week is a good one for you!

Date: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 02:58 am (UTC)My weekly average hit a low for the year last week so yay for that. But I'm back up yesterday and today and almost certainly tomorrow because I went on a carb binge today after being in stress mode in the morning.

Date: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 05:03 am (UTC)I'm still dragging, but I'm getting back on track with sleep, and I managed to eat three times a day every day this week, even if I really didn't want to because it was so hot. Having some fresh fruit around really helped on that front.

Date: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 10:29 pm (UTC)YAY for fresh fruit! I love this time of year, which here means pit fruits--cherries, peaches, apricots, nectarines, and plums--as well as homegrown cantaloupe, of which I cannot get enough. I lament the long, cold winter when we're subsisting on fruits from faraway places, since so often they do not taste nearly so good as local produce.
I hope you continue to improve your sleep, and go, you, for eating three meals a day even when you don't want to! That's great work! :-)

Date: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 09:38 am (UTC)So my goals for this week are to keep up the exercise and physical labor and think about what I eat.

Date: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 10:33 pm (UTC)Since I *always* gain weight on a break, regardless of how much physical stuff I'm doing, I can relate to your concern, and I hope that the scale proves your worries moot when you are finally back home.
Your goals seem eminently sensible, and I wish you all the focus you need to succeed in achieving them!

Date: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 10:29 am (UTC)S and I have been talking a lot about fasting as a weight loss strategy. Both of us need to lose about 10-15 pounds and doing it together means we can hopefully support each other. We want to build up to a 36hr fast, which seems terrifyingly exciting! I've fasted for about 24hrs by missing breakfast and lunch but never gone to bed without having eaten all day. But we do like a challenge and having a specific goal like that feels like a tangible thing to aim for so we'll see.

Date: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 10:36 pm (UTC)I love the idea of making fasting a challenge like that, since that's the kind of thing that gets me revved up and motivated, too, and I wish you both all the focus and energy you need to achieve it! I hope you and S enjoy partnering in this goal!
