Whatever holiday you celebrate--or don't--I hope the next week is as stress-free as possible for you and that you get to spend at least some time with people you like doing things you enjoy.

This time of year is often one long temptation and also often causes disruptions in routines, making working out, for example, a challenge, but it is only a week or so a year, and we can do it! We'll be the better for letting ourselves have what we want, I think.

Anyway, as usual, please share as little or as much as you'd like to about your fitness journey for the past week and any changes in goal for the week ahead.

My plan is to post one more check-in, on Monday, 30 December, and then post the introduction to the new year on 1 January. After that, my check-in day will be Sunday, for reasons I'll explain in the cut.

These days, I am all about doing the best I can. That best is very basic, and sometimes it gives me a little twinge of guilt to not be trying harder, but then I remember how tired I am, and that guilt mostly fades. This is to say: Keep going, my friends, and go easy on yourselves. We are all, every day, just doing the best we can.

Greetings, friends! We celebrated the autumnal equinox in my part of the world on Sunday, for which I made apple walnut raisin muffins (vegan-ified), drank cider, and had an apple cider doughnut, too.

You might notice a food theme. I associate every part of the year with particular foods, and given how often food is my reward for having survived a hard day or whatnot, it's not surprising that I look forward to the autumn for not just the good-for-me stuff (Ginger gold apples, Bartlett pears, butternut squash, to name a few) but also the not-so-good-for-me stuff, like the aforementioned doughnuts.

We are having unseasonably hot weather, and I am SO over it. I don't care about pumpkin spice anything (I can take or leave it), but I *do* want to wear a hoodie for walks in the crisp autumn air with leaves crunching beneath my feet, damnit!

What keeps you from wandering outdoors for exercise? For me, it's always when it's both hot and humid. Yuck!

I actually remembered this post last night but was too brain-fried to actually sit down at the computer to do it. I spent a lot of yesterday in this same chair working on school stuff. Today was a full day of meetings, with some time for classroom set-up. I was there until 4:30 because that's how I roll. Ugh.
