I'm writing to you at the brink of a two-day break because we're having a hella awesome snowstorm right now (I was out tromping around in the back earlier) and the temperatures are going to plummet to the negative digits overnight, with a potential windchill of -25F for the next two days. As I have no grading or prep work to do, this means two days of reading, drinking tea, writing, cuddling with my cats, and trying to kick the last vestiges of this cold out of my body. Yay!

Because I was sick for most of the week, my own fitness plans suffered, but I hope that you had a good week. Please do comment to let us know how your week went, fitness-wise.

Anyone is welcome to join in at any time. We're a very laid-back, easygoing group.

When I felt like eating, I was pretty much on-plan, and I've stayed on plan since my appetite has returned, as well. Not only am I eating better, but I'm eating less at meals, and I've significantly reduced my sugar intake, too. Yay, me!

Exercise. Ha! I returned to work on Wednesday (1/23), so I managed my steps goals most work days, but I was a slug basically all of this past weekend, feeling very low energy and not particularly motivated. I think my body was steal struggling to get better. Anyway, I haven't done any formal exercise for the past week.

Meditation. I suck.

Sleep. This has been good, largely because I've been soooo tired at night that I have no trouble getting to sleep. Unfortunately, more recently, I've had trouble staying asleep because of my cough. I'm glad I get two snow days to sleep in.

My plan for the week ahead: I'm really pleased with the direction my food choices have taken, so I'm going to continue as I've been doing. I'm going to try to get back to exercising three days this coming week, and I'm hopeful that I'll be able to sleep through the night now that my cough seems to finally be fading. I will make a point of meditating at least once this week. (Geez, WHAT is my deal?)

I hope you're all safe and warm if you're in the path of this storm, and if you're on the other side of the world, I hope you're not melting!

May the week ahead see you fit and happy, my friends.

I haven't got around to joining in this year, because in the beginning of January I had trouble coming up with any kind of goal. But I've been thinking I should try the goal of doing some yoga every day, beyond the short morning yoga I usually do just to get my body to believe I'm awake and can move my limbs. It's good for me physically and mentally, and might even help with sleep, so it would take care of a lot of health things at once.

I've actually mostly been doing that already, as I've been trying to follow the current 30-day yoga program at Yoga With Adriene on YouTube. Though sometimes I've missed days, so I'm behind. She's not my favourite YouTube yoga person because she chatters a bit too much, but she's good at being supportive and giving clear instructions, and the program has had short enough videos that I've mostly managed to do them even on a day when I haven't got much energy. Also, she has a dog. I'm thinking I should continue the yoga every day thing when I'm done, but not follow any one programme. I'll think about how to do it, but I'll try to report here to encourage myself to keep up with it.

Wowzer, that's really cold. Enjoy cuddle time with the kitties. It was chaotic at school for us this morning as some members of staff struggled to get in on time with the snow. An hour later it was bright sunshine. But we're supposed to get heavy snowfall in the afternoon tomorrow so we're hoping for a snow day on Friday - I have so much grading to catch up on.

Good luck with finding time to meditate the next week.

I have nothing to report except that I failed rather miserably at all my goals. I'm ridiculously unmotivated.

Thanks, hon, that's very supportive.

We did get a three day weekend! I had intended to do loads of work but seemed to end up on the couch under a blanket with the cat instead - I don't know how that happened :)
