My apologies for this very tardy check-in post, but though I have technically been on spring break since Friday after work, I have been going like a very tired Energizer bunny for three straight days and would love to just sleep for the rest of my days off. Alas, it is not to be.
Weight: My check-in this week was Not Good, but it could have been worse. After my great check-in the week before, I splurged for the whole weekend, with the predictable result that I gained back those three lost pounds and they brought two friends. However, I'd lost those extra two pounds by this week's check-in, for a net loss of zero for the two weeks. Ah, well.
Exercise: This has been sporadic, though I have been pretty good about making at least 10K steps a day, when my ankle allows it, some of that made up on the recumbent bike, some in actual walks, though I usually end up regretting those by the last third of the walk, when my ankle explains why the whole thing was a bad idea. ;-)
Eating plan: There has been some emotional/stress snacking, I'm not going to lie. I've generally kept under my daily calorie quota, regardless, but still...I'd be losing more if I were avoiding the emotional eating. That said, life right now is stressful, and sometimes all I have to look forward to is a snack. That's not healthy (in more ways than one), but this is a habit engrained from childhood, when my mother used food as a reward (or withheld treats as a punishment), and while I know, intellectually, that I shouldn't use food as a crutch, there are days when my will is weaker than my want.
The week ahead: I'm on spring break. It's been stressful so far. It will be less stressful when we're away for a few days, but my eating choices will be somewhat less healthy. Ah, well. There will (hopefully) be hiking, and anyway, I'm on break. I've pretty much decided to let the chips fall where they may (into my open maw, no doubt...mmmm, French fries!) and sort it out the following week. That said, I do actually like salad, for example, and plan to work as many of those into my meals as possible. Also, I'm a big fan of multigrain toast or oatmeal for breakfast, so, you know, there WILL be healthy meals too. (And I like healthy trail snacks already, e.g. dried fruit, unsalted nuts, fruit leather, so that will help as well.)
The good news is, I'm going on a mini-vacation later this week and there will be hiking in pretty locales and lots of birds and budding trees and a river to listen to, and it will be good.
So, as always, if you're so inclined, please do share how your fitness journey was this past week or so. Know that there is no judgement here.
