Fitness Fellowship 2023: Week 16 Check-in
Apr. 23rd, 2023 05:39 pmHowdy, friends!
I hope the past week has been a good one for you. Please share how you're doing on your fitness goals with us. What's giving you a challenge? What's working like a charm? Any adjustments you're planning to make? We're always here to listen. :-)
I lost about a half-pound this week, probably because I continue to be dedicated to getting focused exercise every day and also because I made it a point to get more sleep whenever possible. (I had one night when for reasons beyond my control, I couldn't get to bed until later, and boy, did I feel that the next day or two afterwards.) I've also been drinking a LOT of water daily, making a point of that as well, plus non-caffeinated tea in the evenings sometimes.
I'm doing okay on the calorie-restricted diet. Sometimes I "cheat" with lightly salted popcorn at night, and my splurge meal generally turns into a splurge weekend, which cannot keep happening.
But I do feel like I'm increasing my stamina and endurance as well as my strength and heart health, so these are good things.
I still have not meditated, and I am still stubbornly keeping it on my list of goals because it shouldn't be this difficult.
Sending you strong, healthy vibes for the week ahead!

Date: Monday, 24 April 2023 06:18 pm (UTC)I'm trying replacement therapy and having a can of cider or beer rather than opening a bottle of wine, which is always dangerous for me. Seems to be working. Cider or beer are more volume and lower alcohol content. I'm also back into the plant-based diet and trying out different vegetarian cooking techniques, like using marmite in things for added umami. Exercise is still problematic as I'm insanely busy at school with the run-up to the final exams.

Date: Wednesday, 26 April 2023 01:59 pm (UTC)Last week's goals:
- Do not do things related to my environmental organization (or to work) after 9 pm, or 8 pm if I can.
Yes.
- Turn off computer at 10 pm every day.
Yes.
- Go to bed and turn out the light at 11 pm every day.
Yes.
- Go out in the woods four days in the week, even if just a short walk.
Oops, I fell down on tracking this. Definitely did three days, anyway.
- Go running twice or possibly thrice (am traveling on the weekend).
Ditto. I think I did twice?
- Do workouts on four days (again, weekend plans).
Ditto. Probably did three?
Lesson learned: traveling makes me tired, and I should cut myself some slack on those days...
This week's goals:
- Do not do things related to my environmental organization (or to work) after 9 pm, or 8 pm if I can.
- Turn off computer at 10 pm every day.
- Go to bed and turn out the light at 11 pm every day.
- Go out in the woods all days in the week, even if just a short walk.
- Go running three times.
- Do workouts on four days.
This week will be a weird one sleep-wise, as I am sleeping in a shelter in the woods on two subsequent nights and getting up at three in the morning, hoping to see the capercaillie lekking...
Looks like you're doing well with pretty much everything but the meditation! *g*

Date: Saturday, 29 April 2023 12:48 pm (UTC)I read about your woods adventure and it sounds marvelous, even if you didn’t get a clear view of the activities! How cool!
Also, I’m glad you’re being kind to yourself about travel causing a need to ease up on your own expectations. You are so good all the time with being mindful and have such clear goals, and your attitudes about what fitness means are so thoughtful.
