Fitness Fellowship 2026: Check-in 15
Apr. 13th, 2026 03:58 pmWelcome back to another week. I hope it's been a good one for you.
As usual, please share your progress (or lack thereof--no judgement here) with us in the comments. If you need advice, cheerleading, buttkicking, or anything I can provide, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Weight: I don't even want to talk about it--lol! I think I was probably doing pretty well until we got HOME from our trip, and then there was Chinese takeout. This morning, I weighed 195.6, which, if accurate, is a gain of 3.4 pounds from last week's weigh-in, but I'm trying not to panic. Here's hoping I can budge that number back down by quite a bit before next week.
Exercise: We walked *so* much on our trip and on this past weekend once home, as well. I did yoga 4/4, strength-training 3/3, and walked every day--even travel days! On our trip, we averaged over four miles of walking each day we were there, and on the weekend, we walked 2.67 miles on Saturday, and yesterday, I walked another 2.4 miles on my own.
Eating plan: On the trip itself, I was good. I had healthy breakfasts and lunches and avoided extras at dinner. I did have some sweets for dessert in the hotel room afterwards, but in those cases, I was well within my daily allotment of calories because I gained *so many* extra calories by walking. I do think it was the Chinese food this weekend, likely because of the sodium content. I retain fluid, not to be gross. Even with the Chinese food, I wasn't overly indulgent, so we'll see.
Hydration: Yes!
Meditation: Yes!
Sleep: I have trouble sleeping well when away from home, but I certainly made up for the trip's lack of good sleep when I got home, and I got to bed on time last night in preparation for being back to work today.
The week ahead: We shopped for all sorts of delicious produce on Saturday, so I have lots of great choices in the fridge and am looking forward to greens, beans, rice, etc.
I'm sending you all the good vibes for a healthy week ahead, my friends!

Date: Tuesday, 14 April 2026 05:55 am (UTC)I've been doing a lot of physical work now that it's spring, instead of working out. Back when I was working out, I was fairly good at doing the exercises I was given by that personal trainer I went to, and they are no longer a challenge, which probably means I should book another time with him. Weight and sleep are both good.

Date: Thursday, 16 April 2026 02:04 pm (UTC)YAY for outside work! I love practical exercise of that nature and long to do some of my own. Alas, my yard is still too wet to work in, and we're expecting torrential rains today and Saturday, as well. *sighs*
Anyway, GO YOU for keeping up with your good sleep schedule and for planning to see your PT again to get more challenging exercises. You're making amazing progress! Wooo-hoooo!
Thoughts
Date: Tuesday, 14 April 2026 04:28 pm (UTC)Monday: We were out most of the day, walking and shopping and such. Oh, and last night I finished the poem I was working on, in which several characters are unimpressed with a sad salad bar, so they gang up to make exciting salads for lunch.
Sunday: Ass-busting amounts of effort hauling fallen limbs.
Saturday: Hours and hours of walking at the Small Business Fest, which was awesome. Once home, I also hauled ass to finish planting the violas and pansies.
Friday: I potted up about half a flat of violas and pansies.
Thursday: I did a lot of setup work for planting flowers.
Wednesday: We ran errands and I did a bit of gardening.
Tuesday was too cold and windy to do much outside.
Today's plan is to revisit Whiteside Garden which is giving away free plants. Yesterday I got a holly and a sedum. Then I need to plant things.

Date: Thursday, 16 April 2026 02:06 pm (UTC)You've been BUSY! Congrats on getting so much accomplished. I'm envious that you're able to get out and work in your yard. (Ours is underwater again/still, and we're expecting a lot more rain today and Saturday. *sighs*) Also, YAY for free plants! That's awesome!
Re: Thoughts
Date: Thursday, 16 April 2026 10:46 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm swamped but it's fun. Yesterday we bought 12 concrete blocks so I can make a planting bench. I have 6 of them unloaded so far.
>> I'm envious that you're able to get out and work in your yard. <<
We finally got a good soaking rain last night so I can dig again. I had some larger things shipped in pots that I couldn't plant because the ground had hardened. But today I got those planted. Also I discovered that a marionberry from last year is still alive, and both my pawpaw seedlings are leafing out. :D

That sucks. Climate change makes weather more uneven, which increases both flood and drought.
>> Also, YAY for free plants! That's awesome!<<
We've been back every day. Today I got another holly, which I've already planted.

Date: Wednesday, 15 April 2026 03:25 am (UTC)I was on staycation last week, and having that extra time definitely helped me meet my goals. I also got a fair bit of exercise in, setting up a little garden on my balcony. Bags of dirt are surprisingly heavy. :D
