Fitness Fellowship 2023: Week 48 Check-in
Nov. 27th, 2023 08:02 amA day late and a little heavier!
How did you all do this past week? For some of us, it was a big food holiday, so I'd imagine there were temptations aplenty. For my part, I ate my body weight in homemade vegan stuffing. Stuffing is my favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal, and I only ever make it on Thanksgiving for that reason; otherwise, I'd eat it until I exploded. Since I made two 9x13 pans for just the two of us, we are still eating leftovers. I am absolutely shameless about it because, again, it's once a year.
So, what are you shameless about? Do you have a particular food-related tradition that sustains you? Please do share if you feel like it.
Food-wise, I have kept to the intermittent fasting even with the holiday, so while I did eat more (and more of things I don't normally consume), I did it during my eating window, which kept the weight gain to a minimum. In fact, up until this morning, I had regained only .4 pounds. This AM, it was more like 1.2, but I think that's down to the change in when I was weighing in, since I'm back to my workweek sleeping schedule.
On the subject of sleep, it was not a great break for it. I stayed up later to read because I could sleep in, but my body woke me up only slightly later than my normal workday time anyway, with the predictable result that I was exhausted midway through each day.
Even with the tiredness, I managed a lot of exercise. We did a lot of walking--I got two walks in on Thanksgiving Day--and I took a four-mile hike yesterday. Even during my LotR rewatch on Black Friday, I got a ton of steps in by walking in front of the TV. So, exercise has been consistently good.
Hydration was also good, as I was home and could make endless cups of tea and/or pour out water for myself at regular intervals. And I did some mindfulness, breathing, and prayer exercises while walking a few times, so I definitely fed my soul as well.
I'm back to my regular workweek grind, but I am planning to stick to the IF, daily exercise, a better sleep schedule, hydration, and breathing/meditation/mindfulness.
Hoping your week is a good one, full of only the healthiest of temptations!

Date: Monday, 27 November 2023 07:28 pm (UTC)Examples:
- the heavenly gelato place which makes everything from scratch
- all my homemade jams
- home-baked bread
- the fresh vegetables in my CSA box.
Last week's goals:
- Go running three times.
- Work out five times.
- Usual schedule with sleep: no work/environmental organization stuff after 9, no computer after 10, turn out light at 11.
I flaked out a little in the middle of the week (is that a sore throat? Or am I imagining it?? ...perhaps I shouldn't go running today) but I did manage to go running three times, and worked out four times. Sleep mostly okay, but with some occasional late reading.
I'll just keep the same goals as last week!
