Greetings from the center of the gale! We're having terribly high winds and are expecting 5-10 inches of snow tonight, along with lakeshore flooding and potential ice damage from the wind blowing floes up into people's foundations. We aren't on the water, thankfully, but we are on an island in the river, and the roar of the wind is both awesome and unsettling.

But enough about the weather! How has your week been, fitness-wise and otherwise? I hope you've had success, however you're measuring it, and are feeling well.

Weight: 211.8, up 1.2 from last week. That's disappointing because I did achieve a new low for the year, but it just...disappeared when I got on the scale this morning.

Exercise: I exercised at least 40 minutes every day, did yoga four times, but only lifted light weights once, and I don't even have a reasonable excuse because I was home more than usual due to snow days. Ah, well. I am proud of the fact that I got longer walks in on Friday, Saturday, and yesterday, and I am definitely growing more confident with poses in yoga, too.

Eating plan: I suspect that being over my daily points quota on Saturday and Sunday contributed to today's weigh-in number, though I had the points to spend, and I "spent" some of those points on a salad yesterday, so... Who knows? I am not getting hung up on the scale number because this is a marathon, not a sprint, and it's not about the number (or not only about it, anyway).

Meditation: A little? Yes? Yesterday's walk in nature afforded me both time to do some simple breathing exercises and a few moments of total joy, some of it spiritual in nature. I think that counts.

Hydration: Yes, I've been good about this.

Sleep: Ha! So, I mentioned I had snow days...let's just say I stayed up reading waaaaay too late several days, with the predictable result that getting up THIS week for work has been a challenge. I'm a doofus.

The week ahead: I'm going to lift three times, no arguments, and work on getting my sleep schedule back on track, as well as continuing with all my usual goals. I'll also avoid quite so much splurging next weekend, even when I do have the extra points to spend.

If I could harness the wind, I'd send you all that energy, friends! Have a great week!

good luck with that weather

I'm going nowhere fast. Injections into the back today, some into the knee on Wednesday. I just need to get some semblance of health back so I can get back into this

Exercising every day is an awesome accomplishment! And yay for staying hydrated! Enjoying your walks in nature combined with breathing exercises definitely counts as meditation, in my opinion.

Goal 1 – walking: I finally finished the first week of my program! Now onto the second week :D

Goal 2 – push-ups: I worked out twice and increased the reps for the wall push-ups. I hope I can start with incline push-ups soon.

Good luck with your plans for the coming week!

Glad to hear you've had some enjoyably mindful walks.

We've had crazy weather here too. We made the national news because of flash flooding in some of the local towns, including the one where I work. I've never seen anything like it. Yesterday, I had to turn back because I couldn't find a route into work and they were closing all the roads.

The road into my village has been closed for a week already because the water board is trying to sort out the drainage. We're near the river and wetlands. So I haven't been going to Pilates because it means driving back in the dark along the back lanes. The lanes are so narrow with hedges on either side, so if you meet another car, it can mean reversing a long distance until you find a wide enough space to pass each other. So stressful. I'm actually leaving earlier in the morning and coming home earlier to avoid other vehicles, including tractors!

Anyway, so no exercise, but I have been cooking and eating really well. And we've also been eating and drinking so many fermented foods on a daily basis - kefir, kombucha, miso, kimchi, sauerkraut - so at least my gut biome is super happy.

Good job with your exercising, and I hope your resolution to lift weights bears fruit! *offers stern looks, if they are helpful*

As for me, I thought I was almost well a week ago from whatever this illness was, but turns out I wasn't! Ugh, I'm still not back to normal. I did my teaching anyway today, but my voice is strained now. : ( At least I have tomorrow to rest it before I have to teach again. I've also been struggling to fall asleep the last few days, because of sleeping late and then trying to get my sleeping schedule back on track. So I guess my goal this week is to get well and to get back to a better sleep schedule.

Congratulations on the daily exercise! The fact that you were able to keep that up, even with snow days, is really impressive. Good luck getting the sleep schedule back on rails.

I'm pretty much over my recent bout of illness, and it was a good week, I think.

Three Meals a Day: 5/5
30 Minutes of Movement: 5/5
Pescatarian: 5/5
No Packaged Sweets: 5/5
No Caffeine: 5/5
Stretch Before Bed: 5/5
Bedtime Adherence: 2/5 (still a work in progress, but one that's at least getting closer and closer - this isn't really an all-or-nothing score, since I figure getting into bed at 10:30 is still a lot better than getting into bed at midnight!)

I completely understand. I tore through a 700+ page book in a day and a half this week, having hit one of those fevers that a really good book will put you in. It was just lucky that I managed to finish it around 10 p.m. because I would have absolutely stayed up until the small hours rather than put it down.
