Fitness Fellowship 2025: Check-in 28
Jul. 14th, 2025 06:36 pmGreetings from our vacation cabin, where we'll be for the week. We've left our fur-babies in the capable hands of my BFF, who's enjoying the peace and quiet there while we are just beginning to appreciate a different kind of peace, quiet, and beauty here. It is very, very humid today, so we may not get many more steps in, but we spent the morning and early afternoon cleaning and packing the car, so it's all good. While I dislike sweating so profusely when I'm not dressed for it (i.e., workout clothes), I do appreciate practical exercise.
Is there something you do regularly that helps you to feel fit?
Feel free to ignore the question, but if you're so inclined, please share how your past week has been, fitness-wise and/or otherwise.
Weight: I was at 213.4 this morning, and I'm not sure why I've crept upward on the scale unless it's the heat, humidity, and the fact that most of my activity the past week was cleaning-related, which replaced some of my walking.
Exercise: I didn't get as many steps in every day, nor did I get out for a walk (or get on the elliptical) much because by the time I finished with my allotted chores for the day, I was completely wrung out. I did do yoga four times and lifted five times. And there was a lot of bending, scrubbing, hands-and-knees work, mopping, vacuuming, hefting and carrying, etc.
Eating plan: Towards the end of the week, as the arrival of my BFF neared, we did get takeout a couple of times because I didn't have the energy to cook and also didn't want to dirty up my shiny clean kitchen. ;-) That said, I didn't actually binge, go over calories, or anything of that nature. There were a couple of nights when I late-night snacked, however, so maybe that's part of it? Who knows?
Meditation: Not much...some boxing of the breath to help calm my mind to help me sleep.
Hydration: I wasn't always great about this because I was pushing through trying to get things done.
Sleep: I didn't get as much sleep as I wanted; I had trouble with waking up early and not being able to fall back to sleep. Coupled with staying up late to read and settle down before going to bed, this meant there was one night when I got around four hours sleep, which is way less than I can function on anymore. I'm hoping I don't have trouble sleeping here once I get used to the ambient noises (or lack thereof--it's very quiet here).
The week ahead: I'm going to focus on eating well, avoiding too much junk food, and on getting lots of walks, assuming the humidity dissipates at least a little. Right now, it is *oppressive* out there, but if it weren't so muggy, it would be quite pleasant. There are many lovely trails nearby (and on the property where we're staying), and I'd very much like to have a ramble every day. We'll see.
I hope you have a great week, my friends!

Date: Thursday, 17 July 2025 04:55 am (UTC)I've been chugging along, managing to get walks in most days, but we've had a couple of hot and humid ones where those ended up abridged. Eating three times a day hasn't been successful, but I've still managed to get some decent calories and nutrition (smoothies have helped), and while my sleep hasn't been fantastic, it hasn't been as bad as it could be. I'm just looking to make it through the summer. :)

Date: Friday, 18 July 2025 11:06 am (UTC)Goal 1 – walking: I walked twice last week. I'd like to do more and be more consistent, because I know I'd feel better, but alas, it's not happening right now.
Goal 2 – push-ups: Two additional incline push-ups :D

Date: Friday, 18 July 2025 03:52 pm (UTC)Go, you, for walking twice despite the chaos of your schedule, etc., and for adding to your push-ups. That's awesome! YAY!
