This warranted pulling out the Bobby icon (see above).

I got word of the Ebooks-Tree debacle only yesterday (and if you haven't yet heard about it, this post at AO3 is helpful), but I saw it EVERYWHERE on LJ, and I immediately went over and did my own little DCMA dance o' rage in their comment form.

I checked the site just now, and my story is GONE from there. When I search my fanfic author name, I get "0". That is a lovely thing to see, and it encourages me SO much.

THE POWER OF FANDOM COMPELS YOU!

It's delightful to me that fandom in general can pull together in such a united and concentrated way to make an immediate impression on this sort of unacceptable theft of our works.

Thank you for watching out for me, fellow fangirls and fanboys! Thank you for watching out for each other.

*grouphugs* for anyone who consents!

Peace,
SW

A friend said AO3 updated with the info that there is no content in the so-called "fics", but just links which they now blocked from their part. This supports the now widespread belief that this is a scam phising for credit card info, because you need to put that in if you want to open an account for the promised "free downloads". So, no real fanwork theft, but highly unpleasant all the same.

Oh, well that makes more sense, as despicable as it is. Thanks for the update.
