Fitness Fellowship: Week Three
Jan. 22nd, 2018 06:07 pmHello, Friends:
How did Week Three go for you? Did you meet your goals? Are you feeling good? Feel free to share the ups and downs, and please do tell us what you have planned for the week ahead.
Okay, I plead illness. I came down with a nasty cold on Friday, 1/12, and it pretty much dogged my every step for the next week. I'm still sick, but it's better today, and I'm hoping to continue improving.
So there was really no exercise for me at all in the past week, and my food choices were just okay--I didn't feel like the more involved food prep I really need to keep with my plan. (Yes, these are excuses. See them? Aren't they common? Lol!)
Meditation? Yeah. I more or less forgot.
Sleep, at least, I managed, though when I was the sickest, my sleep quality was compromised.
Anyway, I'm climbing back on the horse for the week to come, starting with tonight's meal, which was very healthy burritos. (I mean that sincerely, not sarcastically--they were packed with sauteed vegetables and low-fat, low-sodium, vegan refried beans, and brown rice.)

Date: Wednesday, 24 January 2018 07:18 pm (UTC)I'm on the couch with a glass of wine, waiting for a supermarket ready-meal to heat up in the oven. I feel like a slug. I'm exhausted after a 12 hour day. I have given up on the idea of ever looking like Gal Gadot ;) (Jesus that woman is perfect. I like to look at pictures of her working out for Wonder Woman instead of doing exercise myself. Lol!) I started smoking again in October and lost weight as a result, mostly I think from just skipping lunch for three months. I'm vaping now and haven't put the weight back on. Yet.
Good luck with your journey, hon. I admire your determination and focus.

Date: Thursday, 25 January 2018 12:49 am (UTC)I have the benefit of doing this fellowship thing in January. If I started it in September, I'd be throwing in the towel before the equinox, seriously, because the first semester is BRUTAL for me. But the rhythm of my teaching life seems to dictate a significant slow-down after midterms, and I totally take advantage of it by writing and reading more as well as trying to be healthier in eating and exercise.
Today, however, I did not exercise, primarily because yesterday, I did a walking workout vid, which was good, and then a ten-minute stretching part, which essentially destroyed my connective tissues.
Okay, I'm exaggerating. I will say that I told a friend this morning, "I think I sprained an ovary." Seriously, I didn't know there were muscles in some of the places that hurt today. ;-)

Date: Friday, 26 January 2018 09:12 am (UTC)Exercise: pilates class has been good, good inner thigh workout, less good on cardio -- it's been raining! -- but have been walking more to meetings, which has been on average 1 km a day at a brisk, walking-to-meetings clip.
Food: it's been a mixed bag food-wise but I think I had more good days than bad days in there. The intermittent fasting has been quite helpful -- I've been eating two smallish meals a day. Yesterday was our anniversary so I had a glass and a half of champagne, but otherwise I have been good on the alcohol front. Today I got into a form-fitting dress and was very motivated to have a lovely brown rice salad for lunch; we'll see if I keep it up once I get home and into my sweat-pants ;)

Date: Saturday, 27 January 2018 01:23 am (UTC)As for me, I am feeling much better. I'm still tired, but not for lack of sleep. I think my body's just recovering its energy after the cold. I'm trying to be extra good about sleep and diet and exercise because I work at a high school and there are some wicked bugs going around right now, bugs I absolutely DO NOT want to catch. Anyway, that's a good motivator for me right now--lol!
