Fitness Fellowship: Week Four
Jan. 29th, 2018 06:37 pmHello, fellow fitness-seekers:
That's a wrap on the month of January, four weeks of fitness, in theory or in fact. I hope it's been a good journey for you so far.
As usual, please share how the past week went for you and what you've got planned for the week ahead.
Food-wise, I did pretty well, and we finally had both the time and money to go grocery shopping and mean it, so I am restocked with fresh and frozen veggies, fresh fruit, and more beans than it's probably safe for me to eat if I want to prevent increasing my carbon footprint. ;-)
Sleep-wise, I've been doing alright too.
I also exercised for four days this past week. My goal was for five, but I've found that I can't quite manage that for one reason or another, so I'm allowing myself to adjust the goal downward a bit for the week to come. Four days is manageable and works for me; why make myself miserable?
Meditation. *sighs* You know, I did try last night because I was having trouble falling asleep (I cannot wait to be done with peri-menopause. The hormone-related insomnia sucks so hard), but I couldn't seem to manage beyond some breathing exercises. Better than nothing, but not up to my usual standard from bygone days.
For the week ahead, I'm going to keep to the eating plan, exercise at least four days (for at least twenty minutes), continue with the good sleep habits, and MEDITATE at least ONCE. *pinky-swears*
Have a fantastic February debut, my friends!

Date: Tuesday, 30 January 2018 04:11 am (UTC)eating decently: check
daily exercise: nope
wheezing: still here
in other words, the things over which I have control, are going okay. the other? Asthma asthma asthma. Any exercise makes me wheeze more, which puts a kibosh on doing anything aside from wandering around the house.
[as an aside: I've been wheezing and coughing since October (fires out here have kicked my ass this year). Not clear what's going on (x-rays and ct scan tomorrow) but until I can get that under control, the exercise bike is standing there being ignored.]
nice to be back here.

Date: Tuesday, 30 January 2018 03:29 pm (UTC)I'm sorry to hear about the increased asthma issues as a result of the air quality from the fires. I heard a report on NPR the other day about the "unintended" consequences of natural disasters, specifically on children, and how air quality is a huge concern for kids growing up in air affected by environmental disasters. It's such a grim reality for everyone, but in particular, the report focused on poor children the world over who do not have access to quality healthcare (or any healthcare). I can only imagine what it's like when the air itself is your enemy. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. I hope the scans help you get to the bottom of it and lead to a plan that allows you a better quality of life.

My own personal line in the sand vis a vis leaving the house is that I'll only go out if I Cannot See the Air.

Date: Tuesday, 30 January 2018 09:02 am (UTC)Getting this week off to a good start, I actually did some cardio at the gym as well as the pilates class, had lean protein for lunch and then a fruit salad for dinner yesterday, and today I ate a delicious quinoa salad. Hopefully this pattern of good conduct will continue.
In other news, you seem do be doing really well, aside from the ladyparts-related stuff! +cheerleads

Date: Wednesday, 31 January 2018 12:22 am (UTC)it's a good thing to start with once a week. as an old teacher of mine once said: do it as you can, and once you've done it three times in a row, you've taught yourself a new habit.
cheer-leading for you from out here on the left coast!!
