Greetings from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia!
I'm on vacation, so I'll keep this succinct: Please do share your ups and downs, fitness-wise and/or otherwise. I will be around and checking in now and again, so you will not be whispering into the void. :-)
Last week was prep for the trip and cleaning the house and then three days on the road before arriving here late Saturday night. I got what exercise I could at rest stops, etc., but trying to eat on the road was a huge challenge and involved some junk (though not as much as would have been involved had I not been doing IF). I have had to compromise the IF schedule for a bunch of reasons, and I'm okay with that. Starting yesterday, our first full day here, we got a TON of exercise hiking, so I'm not too upset about food choices, which include oatcakes, for example, delicious but not light. ;-)
My plan for the rest of our trip is to eat as I like but be mindful of my body's signals, to get lots of good outdoor exercise, meditate/pray/breathe (lot of that already--the view from our cabin's deck is spectacular), hydrate, and sleep well and deeply.
I hope the week ahead is a good one for you, friends!

Date: Tuesday, 18 July 2023 03:37 pm (UTC)Goals for last week:
- I am visiting a friend Tuesday-Friday; I told her about the fitness fellowship and how it's helping me. We'll try to work out together on at least one day! She has small kids though, so I'll keep the goal to one day and it'll be a bonus if we manage two.
Errr, no, we didn't end up doing this, due to various family stuff happening. We did take a walk though.
- Do not do things related to my environmental organization (or to work) after 9 pm, or 8 pm if I can.
- Turn off computer at 10 pm every day (except if I haven't managed to write by 10 pm while at my friend's; in that case I can write after 10).
Yes, those were fine.
- Go to bed and turn out the light at 11 pm every day.
Backsliding on this one a bit...
- Work out on four days.
- Go running on one day.
Actually I ended up ditching both running and working out in favor of picking as much berries as possible (raspberries, red currants, bilberries, cherries). But that was fine! This did involve some incidental exercise in the form of walking/squatting/kneeling and also climbing a tree with harness, rope, etc, in order to pick cherries.
So yeah, I didn't meet the goals I set up, but I did other stuff instead. : )
Goals for this week: I am leaving today in order to go hiking in the mountains! \o/ I think that's enough of a fitness goal.

Date: Thursday, 20 July 2023 05:37 pm (UTC)I hope you enjoyed (are enjoying?) your trip!
My weight is up today, but my weekly average is still down from last week, so overall I'm hanging in there.
Not so great with the food choices yesterday and I'm having the kind of day today where I have to keep reminding myself that comfort food never makes me feel better for longer than the time it takes to eat it. (And my food cravings are usually completely disconnected from my body's actual signals. When I think "I'm hungry" more often what I really mean is "I'm tired and sad.")
Re: week 29
Date: Thursday, 20 July 2023 08:29 pm (UTC)I feel you on the comfort eating SO much. Right now, I'm making some iffy food choices because "I'm on vacation; I deserve to eat this." We have been doing a lot of walking and hiking, though, and I have also been making our meals here, so there's a balance for some of the baked goods and chips I've been consuming in greater-than-usual quantities.
Anyway, the struggle is mental and it's real, and I'm with you all the way on this.
