Fitness Fellowship 2025: Check-in 37
Sep. 15th, 2025 06:22 pmHey, there, friends!
How has the past week been for you, fitness-wise or any otherwise? Please do share as much or as little as you'd like with us. You know we're a non-judgmental group hereabouts. :-)
Weight: I'm at 209.6, which is 2.2 pounds down from last week! \o/
Exercise: For the first time in a long while, I only managed three sessions of yoga instead of my usual four, largely because of my schedule and tiredness. I did walk every day, though, and did strength training five times. Yesterday, I did fairly strenuous yardwork for more than four hours and was completely knackered when I finally came inside, so I had no energy left for what should have been the week's fourth yoga session.
Eating plan: I have honestly been rocking this! I made a big pan of beans, greens, and potatoes with various spices and have been having that for dinner with rice or in whole wheat tortillas. A trip to the farmer's market on Saturday has yielded a ton of veggies, so I'm all set for more healthy entrees and lunches. And I feel good, too.
Hydration: Yes!
Sleep: I've been very good about getting to bed on time on weeknights and being off-screen before bedtime.
Meditation: No, which I have to rectify this week.
The week ahead: More of the same (and four/four yoga sessions).
I'm sending you good energy for a week that gives you what you need!

Thoughts
Date: Tuesday, 16 September 2025 02:34 am (UTC)Today we went up to Champaign and shopped, so lots of walking. I love Ollie's -- we got 5 cookbooks for what one usually would cost -- but that concrete floor is unforgiving on feet.
I've been cooking more, though, since I have extra time this month. \o/ Also we found an evening farmer's market near us, so that's awesome.

Date: Tuesday, 16 September 2025 11:59 am (UTC)YAY for walking and bargain hunting and cooking more, too! Those are all good things! Go, you!
Also, I love the idea of an evening farmer's market--really, given how much of the population works days, this is a fantastic idea!

Date: Wednesday, 17 September 2025 09:26 am (UTC)That's what has me going out to water things in this heat -- and I can't use the hose because I can't stay outside that long, so it's hand watering.

We've got a fall festival this weekend too.

There are now several in our area. We hope to hit one tomorrow. Last time it had crenshaw squash, I want one. And one guy said he'd probably have sweet corn this week, so we could make Three Sisters Succotash.

Date: Tuesday, 16 September 2025 07:32 pm (UTC)Well done on the weight loss and healthy eating. And yay for beans and the leguminati. I made an interesting Georgian (Eastern Europe) pinto bean dish over the weekend that also contained walnuts, pomegranate juice and blue fenugreek, which might sound a little unusual, but was lovely and tasty.

Date: Tuesday, 16 September 2025 10:34 pm (UTC)And boy, do I understand being too tired and busy to do strength training. I hope you get there this week, but I also hope you know there's absolutely no judgement here if you don't. Some nights, I'm so tired I just slump into my chair, still in my work clothes, until I can bestir myself to get up and change and do the "have-to"s, so to speak.
Big *hugs* to you and lots of luck with continuing your fitness quest!

Date: Wednesday, 17 September 2025 07:04 pm (UTC)I have a tooth where the nerve is dead and the tooth is infected around the root, and it needs a root canal. Currently I have tooth ache. /o\ /o\ Also I am too busy. So not a very cheery update this week!

Date: Thursday, 18 September 2025 05:16 am (UTC)I've still been struggling with heat, forest fire smoke, and work stress here, but I feel like things are turning a corner. I do have something I feel good about, though. I've been managing both an office move and a move at home, which means I've been doing a lot of lifting and carrying lately, including a full eight-hour shift at work that was pretty much all packing and moving bankers' boxes full of records and some sizable office equipment, followed by a Saturday carting books to the secondhand bookshop. I could lift everything I wanted to lift, and nothing in my body is complaining. It's a level of fitness I'm grateful to have. :D

Date: Thursday, 18 September 2025 03:41 pm (UTC)Congratulations to you on all the lifting and carrying of heavy things, especially as it shows your practical fitness level! That is *so* exciting! :-)
I am sorry that you're suffering from the heat, smoke, and stress, though, and I do hope things get easier for you soon. (Of course, I also hope the crews are able to get the fires under control.)
