Late again, drat-it! But by the time I remembered last night, I was far too tired to make words of any kind. That's the theme of my life these days, btw. I'm sure some of you fine folx can relate. :-)

Anyway, please do share how you're doing looking back over the year behind us or ahead to the shadowy future. How has your progress been? What are you hoping to accomplish in the future? We're here for any fitness stories, no matter how you define fitness nor what you consider a goal. Please feel free to join us!

And, if you've been on silent mode at home, please consider joining more actively in the new year. (No pressure, though!)

Weight: Today: 178.2. I've seen a pound lower and two pounds higher this week, so I'll take it. Still, it's not surprising I haven't had any down-tick. I'm slipping up with night time snacking once more. Grrrr!

Exercise: On this, I remain steadfast and faithful. I'm using the elliptical at least three-four times a week, sometimes more often, and I'm enjoying it.

Eating plan: See above, re: snacking. Even so, I'm generally making *better* snacking choices and sometimes even resist altogether. And I've been much better lately about getting more dark greens, as I was having leg cramping, a sure sign that I'm not getting enough of them. I've also been having lighter lunches with more fruit and making sure to get enough veggies with dinner.

The week ahead: Lose or at the very least hold the line. Xmas day will be a bit of an eating splurge as will New Year's Eve, which in our household means all the oven-baked crap we can manage to cram into our faces (e.g. mini-pizzas, mini-eggrolls, etc., as well as cheese and baguette--all vegan, still bad for us, no regrets!). But I'm getting ahead of myself. For this week, I am going to try to lose at least another pound, just to give myself a little more wiggle room for the those splurge days.

Wishing you a good week ahead.

I cannot believe that it's week 50. TBH, I can't believe that it's almost 2022. This has been a helluva year. And not in a good way.

I'm glad to see that you've kept your workouts going so well!

Like you, I have been very consistent this year. I finished up the Beginner Pete Plan and started in on the Maffetone heart rate approach (link). Since 5/1/2021, I've rowed 1,047,506 meters! I got derailed by my vaccines and the booster since I had very bad reactions to both. But, I discovered that the Maffetone method lets me put in vastly more hours of rowing (e.g. 6 days/week) with almost no provoking of my chronic illness, which is pretty stunning. More time at a slow pace comes at the expense of distance, but in theory, eventually your fitness level increases and you can get faster. We shall see. I will say that rowing 45 minutes a day got me through my comprehensive exams, so there's that. LOL.

Looking ahead, I'm hoping that the Maffetone method will pay out and I'll be able to row a half-marathon sometime in 2022. I had hoped to get back on the ice this winter, now that I'm finished my coursework and comps, but it looks like Omicron will quash that. I guess I'll just do a lot more rowing...maybe I should set my sights on a marathon in December 2022 instead?

In other news, I did finally buy a scale, but I still won't get on it. LOL.
