Hey, friends!
How has your week been, fitness-wise and otherwise? Please do share your progress, frustrations, joys, and sorrows. We're here to listen.
I lost a teensy bit this week, but I consider that a win. I made healthy food choices where I could, didn't skimp on desserts, and still lost a bit.
And I lost that bit because of exercise, for sure. Lots of recumbent biking, lots of walking both during work and afterwards, and just making a point of being active whenever/wherever I could.
I also tried to hydrate more, get enough sleep, and I even meditated once!
Next week's plan is more of the same, making sure to keep exercising.
I'm sending you all the good vibes I can spare for the week to come!

Date: Monday, 27 March 2023 05:38 pm (UTC)I'm drinking more water, which is a good thing. Mainly because I'm sweating and over-heating at night with the onset of menopause. It's not too bad though and isn't causing me a lot of discomfort. I've discovered this ginger and lemongrass extract which is very subtle and delicious and makes water taste like some sort of elixir of the gods. I've cut down on my coffee intake too.
I'm flying out to SA next weekend for Easter and know that my mostly-vegetarian diet will go out the window but that's okay as I'll also get to eat *real* tomatoes and gem squash and all sorts of good vegetables that grow in the sunshine.

Date: Monday, 27 March 2023 06:54 pm (UTC)I'm so glad menopause isn't causing you a lot of discomfort. I could live without the night sweats, but the hot flashes have gotten a lot fewer and farther between, for which I'm grateful, Also, that extract sounds amazing! Is it available for international shipping, do you know? I'm always looking for a healthy, low-cal way to jazz up water. Go, you, for hydrating and taking care of yourself!
I hope you have a WONDERFUL time in SA with all the gem squash and tomatoes you can reasonably consume in that time and that you get some peace, quiet, rest, and relaxation!

Date: Wednesday, 29 March 2023 07:03 pm (UTC)How I did:
- More reading on the couch.
I did read more on the couch!
- Go to bed and turn out the light at 11 pm every day. 11 pm SHARP.
Well, yes, and I turned off the computer one or two hours before going to bed...but I still slept poorly several nights, and I pretty much knew I would. /o\ This often happens when I am nervous/stressed about something and also have lots of commitments.
- Keep to my food goals.
I did some comfort-eating, but I think that's okay.
- Go out in the woods every day, even if just a short walk.
Five days.
- Go running three times.
Two times (was too tired on Sunday).
- Do workouts on six days.
Four days (was too tired on Sunday and one other day).
This week's goals:
- New goal: do not do things related to my environmental organization (or to work) after 9 pm. I can do things on the computer, but only fannish things or other things that I enjoy.
- New goal: Turn off computer at 10 pm every day. I don't have a smartphone but I still spend too much time in front of the laptop screen. This will also give me more reading time.

Date: Wednesday, 29 March 2023 10:26 pm (UTC)Your goals for next week sound great! Like you, I have been trying to go off-device (in my case, I read on an iPad, but I also have plenty of physical books to read, so no excuses) earlier in the evening to let my brain settle. And, like you, I had to pass a rule in my own brain NOT to check work email just before going off-iPad. That way lies perseverating over tomorrow's problems. ;-)
I hope the week gives you a chance to breathe, sleep, read, and exercise as and when you will.
