Fitness Fellowship 2023: Week 40 Check-in
Oct. 1st, 2023 07:25 pmLast week was busy, and then I was exposed to COVID. How has yours been? Do feel free to share the ups and downs of your fitness journey. As always, we're here to commiserate, not to judge. :-)
The good news: I lost weight again this week! In fact, I'm a pound and a half away from the weight I started the year at, which is *good* news, since I gained a bunch this year and have finally almost lost all of it! YAY! My goal is to get to 200 pounds or fewer by 1 January 2024. Today's weigh-in was 214. I am SO excited by that number. The intermittent fasting is definitely working.
I made a point of hydrating more this week, and I got as much exercise as I was able. That included a few long walks and lots of laps of the hallways and library when I knew I was busy in the evenings. I did some breathing/prayer/mindfulness stuff in the mornings a few days, and I worked on getting enough sleep too.
For the week ahead, I'd like to continue keeping to my intermittent fasting, keep exercising daily, hydrate sufficiently, sleep enough, and breathe/pray/meditate as and when I can.
Also, I really hope we test negative for COVID. We got both COVID and flu shots two weeks ago this coming Tuesday. Our exposure was Friday night at a wedding. The venue was well-ventilated, but the music was super loud, so we were shouting to hear each other, and we were sitting next to and talking with the person who texted the next morning to say she'd tested positive. *sighs* We're planning to go away for the long weekend, but if we're positive, we'll stay home so as not to give it to anyone else. Please do cross your fingers for us.
Here's hoping we have a great week, friends!

Date: Monday, 2 October 2023 01:50 pm (UTC)I hope life settles for you soon, so you can get into a routine. It can be difficult re-establishing one when there are so many spinning plates.

Date: Monday, 2 October 2023 10:49 am (UTC)Congratulations on working towards your weight goals! \o/
This week's goals:
- No work emails after nine, no computer after ten, and turn out the light at eleven.
I am backsliding on this! Not the one about work emails, that one is working well because there's no temptation, and mostly also the second one. No, the one I'm backsliding on is the one about turning out the light--it's such a temptation just to read a few minutes longer. So often I don't turn out the light until 11.30.
- Go running twice, and work out four times. Also go on two long walks.
Yep, did all that!
This week's goals:
- No work emails after nine, no computer after ten, and ACTUALLY turn out the light at eleven.
- Go running three days, and go on walks two days.
- Work out five times.

Date: Monday, 2 October 2023 01:52 pm (UTC)I SO relate to your issue with keeping the light on because I read last thing in the evening, as well, and it's so tempting to stay up for "just a few more pages," which doesn't seem like all that many until it translates into minutes. I hope you have no trouble getting back on track with that.
Also, YAY for so much exercise! :-)

Date: Monday, 2 October 2023 05:16 pm (UTC)I had a slightly desultory week. I strained something in my lower back when I moved awkwardly so I let it heal up and didn't do any exercise. Also didn't do any fasting and I actually ate a piece of chocolate the one day and a slice of cheesecake another day. Oh well. I'm aiming for a better week this week.
Goals:
pilates (Tues), cardio (Fri) and gym circuit (Sat)
two fasting days (no breakfast)
no junk food at all
no wine all week
Oh BTW, David Eugene Edwards is playing in London during our half term and S has bought us tickets as my birthday present. We're going to stay in a hotel and go somewhere posh and exotic for a meal. So looking forward to it!

Date: Monday, 2 October 2023 08:30 pm (UTC)Also, I am SO envious of your fancy weekend in London! I hope DEE is fantastic, as I'm sure he will be, and that the posh restaurant lives up to your fanciest, most exotic dreams of it! You deserve it, hon.
