Another week has gone down like the sun in the West. (Forgive the LotR-esque language; I am currently on the second stage of The Conqueror walking challenge, which is Helm's Deep, so virtually every day, something reminds me of the films.)

How was the week that was? Did you have an easy time of keeping to your goals or did life throw some challenges in your way? Please do share as much or as little as you'd like. We're hear to listen. :-)

Weight: 202.4, down .2 from last week.

Exercise: Every day, yes. Intervals, yes. Inclines, yes. Weights, yes. It was a good week for exercise, for sure.

Eating plan: I mostly kept to my intermittent fasting; I don't think I had any popcorn incidents. Even my "splurge" meal was a variety of hot bar veggies and salad bar selections from Whole Foods, which really is a treat because it is hella expensive.

Meditation/breathing: Yes? Yes. I'm pretty sure I did some boxing of the breath and/or internal chanting/mantras. Those together have become my go-to practice when I need a moment out of the bustle of work or need to regulate my pace while walking, for example.

Hydration: I'm still drinking my home-brewed iced ginger root tisane. The latest batch was made with lime juice instead of lemon, for variety's sake, and I'm enjoying it a great deal.

Sleep: I've gotten into a pattern where even on weekends, I wake up maybe a half-hour after my usual workday wake-up. That's disheartening, but it does mean I get to bed at a reasonable hour all week 'round instead of staying up too late on Friday and Saturday nights and regretting it come Monday morning.

The week ahead: Same old, same old.

I'm sending you sweet May vibes, my friends, whatever May means to you.

When is school over for the year?

I had [top] surgery ten days ago and while recovering the only thing I can do is eat properly. I'll know tomorrow when I can get back to exercise. I'm feeling a lot blob like right now.

They removed seven freaking pounds of tissue from my chest. So even if I haven't been working for it in the traditional sense, I have lost a chunk of weight this week. Even better than that is that when I looked in the mirror when the bandages first came off I saw myself for the first time in decades. It's a pretty neat thing.

Otherwise, I'm out here trying to take care of myself. And remembering to breathe.

I only spent four years in a HS setting, high powered prep type school in SF. But it was exhausting like nothing else I've ever done. Every time someone says that teachers are lucky they only have to work ten months of the year I want to throw something heavy at their heads.

take good care you.
