Fitness Fellowship 2025: Check-in 40
Oct. 6th, 2025 02:28 pmIt is still unseasonably warm here, but tomorrow is supposed to bring rain (at long last) and usher in cooler temperatures. I cannot wait!
Weight: 206.8, down .8 from last week, for a total weight loss of 5.6 pounds since the first of September.
Exercise: I did yoga four times out of four pledged, strength-training three times out of three pledged (but for longer sessions than usual), and walked every day.
Eating plan: For the first time since 1 September, I caved in and got takeout--Chinese food from our favorite place. It was totally worth it, but I worried it would have an adverse effect on my weight loss. I ordered two entrees, both healthy, and no appetizers or soup, and I divided the food up over a couple of meals. It was delicious and filling, and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Otherwise, my food choices have been healthy and my portions reasonable. Yesterday, I spent some time in the morning making a big pot of veggies and bean chili for meals early in the week; it came out spicy and good, and I'm enjoying it with some miche sourdough from a local grocery store.
Sleep: I made it a point to be better about it this past week and have finally reset my sleep schedule.
Meditation: Yes!
Hydration: Also yes! :-)
The week ahead: We're going away for the long weekend, so there will doubtless be some tasty challenges, but I have also learned through experience that I have to make healthy choices when away or I end up having heartburn and/or indigestion, which is no fun at all. Thankfully, where we're heading has an amazing co-op with fresh-made vegan carry-out options, and between those options and the stuff we're bringing with us, I should be in good shape to eat mostly well. Also, we're visiting my BFF, who is a big rambler, and we have hikes planned for Saturday and Sunday, so there will be plenty of exercise.
Despite the unnatural heat, I did get out for a walk yesterday, though I waited until near sunset to do it and was rewarded for my choice with an amazing moonrise. The unexpected present--I wasn't thinking of the time when I took the walk--gave me one of those amazing moments of awesome, simple joy. I'm living for those these days.
What keeps you going, friends, when the going gets tough, as they say?
Feel free to skip that question, but please do share your progress or lack thereof where your fitness goals are concerned.
